Frederick Douglass (c. 1818–1895) was a powerful abolitionist, author, and speaker who escaped slavery and became one of the leading voices against it. Through his speeches and writings, he fought for freedom, equality, and civil rights for all—helping shape American history. Today, Miss Feldmann’s 8th grade English class celebrated Frederick Douglass’s birthday as they learned more about his life, legacy, and impact.

What a fantastic turnout for our 2nd and 3rd Grade Wax Museum! Mrs. Johnson’s students truly impressed us all. Visitors were in for quite the treat as students dressed the part and brought the Greek gods to life, sharing a wealth of knowledge with everyone who stopped by. We are incredibly proud of their dedication, creativity, and confidence! 👏✨

School Bus Safety Reminder When a school bus displays flashing red lights—often with the stop arm extended—all traffic must come to a complete stop. This applies to drivers traveling behind the bus, approaching from the opposite direction, or entering from an intersecting street. Passing a school bus while its red lights are flashing is illegal and places students at risk as they board or exit the bus. Drivers who fail to stop may face fines, points on their driver’s license, increased insurance rates, and possible court involvement or license suspension. These laws are in place to protect children during one of the most vulnerable parts of their day. In our Dutton and Brady communities, student safety is a shared responsibility. By slowing down, staying alert, and stopping when required, we help ensure our students arrive at school and return home safely each day. Thank you for doing your part to keep our students safe.

Our 4th & 5th graders stepped back in time to the Renaissance! We explored Renaissance painting techniques and colors, then challenged themselves to paint under their desks - just like Michelangelo did for the Sistine Chapel ceiling. An unforgettable and hands-on experience.

Dutton/Brady Public School District continues to make strong progress in expanding high-quality STEM learning opportunities for students, reaching an important milestone with the district’s first national publication in STEM CENTURY. The chapter, “Rural STEM Program Development and Design,” highlights how rural schools can leverage curiosity, community partnerships, and creative program design to build high-impact STEM pathways. The work reflects the district’s ongoing commitment to developing innovative programs that prepare students for future careers while staying rooted in local values and opportunities. The district’s STEM Aviation and Aircraft Mechanics program is a key example of this progress. Recently, $3,300 in new aviation learning materials—funded through the Montana Innovative Education Tax Credit—were added to the program, allowing students to gain hands-on experience with sheet metal fabrication, rivets, and aviation-based construction techniques. These practical learning experiences strengthen technical skill development and prepare students for high-skill, high-demand careers in aviation, mechanics, and advanced trades. Looking ahead, Dutton/Brady is also expanding Career and Technical Education (CTE) opportunities for middle school students beginning next year. New shop and career-focused coursework will introduce students earlier to STEM-aligned hands-on learning, workforce skills, and career exploration—creating a stronger pipeline into advanced STEM and CTE programs at the high school level. Through strategic investment in people, resources, and student engagement, the district continues to build pathways that foster adaptability, problem-solving, and real-world skills, ensuring students are prepared for mastery today…success tomorrow. STEM CENTURY will be available February 12. #21stCenturyEd #STEMLiteracy #RuralSTEM #CTE #AviationEducation #CareerReady

Dutton/Brady PSD is on the rise and proving that “Mastery today… success tomorrow” is more than a motto—it’s happening. From 100% success in early childhood development to big gains in K–2 math (+17%) and reading (+21%), our students are growing fast. Grades 3–8 are at their highest proficiency levels in 10 years, while high school students rank in the 82nd percentile for reading and 73rd for math. Strong attendance, increased funding, and a five-year strategic plan that’s already 72% complete are driving this momentum—but the real difference is our incredible staff. Their passion, hard work, and genuine care for students fuel every success and make Dutton/Brady a place where kids thrive. Together, we will continue building on this progress to ensure lasting success for every student.
